Fans are willing to pay top dollar for a wine named after Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley or Jerry Garcia (from “The Grateful Dead”). Here are a few celebrities that lent their name and clout to a wine bottle:
Australian golf player Greg Norman has wineries on the Limestone Coast of Australia.
The South-African golf player Ernie Els produces wine in Stellenbosch, in the heart of South-African wineries.
Olivia Newton John, the Australian actress/singer, has the Koala Blue collection.
Sir Cliff Richard, the British singer, has wineries in Algarve, in the sunny South of Portugal where he produces the Vida Nova brand, sold in supermarkets around Great Britain.
An Italian Bob Dylan wine, a mixture of Montepulciano and Merlot de Le Terrazze, in a bottle signed by the singer, is named after the 1974 album “Planet Waves”.
Movie director/screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola owns the Niebaum-Coppola winery in Nappa Valley, California.
